Wormgod is aimed at the outcasts, dropouts and fuckups. Those who don't fit into the norms of this society. We are the unwanted weed growing up from the fields of decaying limbs and blood-drenched dirt that is the foundation for the nation states we all live in. We use this environment for inspiration to create art that works as escape and reminder at the same time. We don't believe in speaking to the lowest common denominator. There's too much of that going on already.

Instead, we move around in subcultures and subversive concepts, because that's where the action is. Meaningful entertainment for zombielovers and anarchists.

We are tired of a mainstream culture that dilutes everything to make it easier to swallow. We don't want to please your senses, we want to rip you open and bathe in your mind fluids.

And we will make you like it.

The Wormgod association consists of members Susanne, Mattias, Oscar, Anders and Hannah and together we try to create an art culture that does not try to appeal to the lowest common denominator. We aim instead to make a lasting impression and spawn new thoughts in our audience.

The Wormgod project was born in February of 2009 by Mattias Elftorp and Susanne Johansson. They both started out in C'est Bon Kultur, where they spent several years creating sequential art, producing exhibitions and doing lots of other things. These years were a part of the process leading up to Wormgod, but in this project they have moved on. What they take with them is experience and a sense for storytelling (sequential or otherwise). What they add in this new form is another direction. The Wormgod will manifest into the real world in order to change it. Tear down the old to build something new from the ruins. With members Hannah, Oscar and Anders added to the core crew, nothing seems impossible.

Wormgod will break down the boundaries between reality, horror and subculture. We want to show the beauty in the tilted and ugly, expose the audience to walls of visual noise and find the strength in the underground to grow big enough to eclipse the sun.

Sammanslutningen Wormgod består av medlemmarna Susanne, Mattias, Oscar, Anders och Hannah och tillsammans vill vi skapa en konstkultur som inte är anpassad efter minsta gemensamma nämnare utan istället gör ett bestående intryck och manar till eftertanke hos betraktaren.

Tanken på projektet Wormgod föddes i februari 2009 av Susanne Johansson och Mattias Elftorp, som en reaktion på en mainstreamkultur som ofta är utspädd och anpassad efter minsta gemensamma nämnare. Hannah, Oscar och Anders tillkom snart som medlemmar och sammanslutningen var ett faktum. Wormgod vill bearbeta tunga ämnen genom hårda uttryck och är någonting mer än ett konstprojekt. Tillsammans leker vi med både akademiska koncept och rena känslor samtidigt som det är viktigt att det finns en verklighetsförankring. Vi vill skapa den visuella motsvarigheten till musikgenrer som noise eller power electronics, någonting som är överväldigande snarare än underhållande.

Mattias och Susanne har sin bakgrund i C'est Bon Kultur och tar därifrån med sig erfarenheter av flera års konstnärligt arbete, en känsla för historieberättande och en vilja att utforska nya uttryck. Tillsammans med resterande Wormgodmedlemmar går de vidare till någonting som går några steg längre, med en fördjupad samhällsanalys och ett kompromisslöst formspråk.

Vi lever i ett samhälle där schlagerfestivaler samsas med vapenexport, där övergrepp sker samtidigt som folk blundar och dricker sitt kaffe. Wormgod vill bryta ner gränser i ett land som alltmer stänger sina. Vi är som ett ogräs som växer upp ur en utsugningskultur maskerad som ett harmlöst konsumtionssamhälle.
